Just finished my first book of 2012. Austria’s greatest post war author, Thomas Bernhard is like the missing link between Kafka and Beckett. Throw into that mix a bucket of venomous bile worthy of Houellebecq and you have a hugely engrossing and darkly comic novel. Astounding.
